FINANCIAL AND BROKERAGE SERVICE DISCRIMINATION

Any type of discrimination in the lending of money for home mortgages is illegal under the Fair Housing Act.

Predatory practices that single out a protected class are thus illegal.

Discrimination may also take the form of a refusal to take or process an individual loan application or it may be in the form of “redlining,” a practice where loans or mortgages are refused based upon the character of the neighborhood.
